Chemical Containment Pallet

A chemical containment pallet is a one-piece molded HDPE spill containment pallet with a removable black PE grate deck and a threaded drain outlet. Sitting under chemical and oil drums, IBCs and totes, it holds the contents of a leaking container inside its sump instead of letting it reach the floor. The 11 standard sizes give sump capacities from 4 L to 260 L, static loads from 50 kg to 4,000 kg and dynamic loads from 600 kg to 1,200 kg. Chemical plants, oil depots, labs, plating shops, paint stores and outdoor drum yards specify them as secondary containment for corrosive and flammable liquids.

Size the sump to the largest single container on the pallet: a standard 200 L drum measures roughly 580 mm across, and the sump has to hold at least that full volume so a complete spill stays inside the unit.

Below are the key factors for selecting suitable containment pallets for your site:

1. Load Bearing Capacity Static loading is the load a pallet carries standing still and reaches 4,000 kg on the largest sizes; dynamic loading applies while a forklift or pallet truck moves it and drops to 800-1,200 kg. Check the drum count and the loaded weight of the containers against the size you intend to order before stacking. For heavier loads, a steel drum containment pallet is available.

2. Forklift Adaptability Confirm how your site handles and stacks the pallets before choosing a size. The low-profile 1200 x 1200 x 100 mm and 1200 x 1000 x 170 mm units are built for tight stacking, while the deeper 300 mm sumps suit single-level placement under IBCs and drums.

3. Outdoor Weather Resistance UV-stabilized HDPE resists sunlight ageing, cracking and weather corrosion, so the pallet keeps its shape and sump capacity when it stands in an open yard. HDPE also stays serviceable in frozen storage, unlike PP grades that become brittle at low temperature.

4. Leak Containment Ability The body is molded in one piece with no welded seams and no bolts, so there is no joint line for liquid to track through. Spilled oil and chemical liquids collect in the sump and drain through the threaded outlet during cleaning. A secondary containment pallet captures a leak or a single-container spill; it does not make the container itself leak-proof.
