Temperature Tolerance for Extreme Conditions
Heavy duty plastic pallets are not only robust and versatile but also resilient under extreme conditions. They are able to withstand temperatures below 32°F without detriment to their structural integrity. For operations in consistent temperatures below 0°F, special freezer grade plastic pallets are recommended to maintain performance and durability.
Materials such as low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) used in plastic pallets show good cold resistance, capable of withstanding temperatures as low as -50°F. However, in colder temperatures, materials like polypropylene (PP) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) are less suitable for use in heavy duty plastic pallets due to their tendency to become brittle. Despite these limitations, the cold environment performance of plastic pallets can be enhanced by increasing the material thickness of components made from resins that are not as resistant to cold.
