Performance Characteristics Of Plastic Products

Sep 12, 2025

Low density: Plastics are relatively light materials, with a relative density ranging from 0.90 to 2.2. Obviously, plastics can float on water, especially foamed plastics, which are even lighter due to their micropores, with a relative density of only 0.01. This characteristic makes plastics suitable for use in the production of products requiring reduced weight.

Excellent Chemical Stability: Most plastics exhibit good resistance to corrosion from acids, alkalis, and other chemicals. In particular, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), commonly known as the "king of plastics," boasts chemical stability even surpassing that of gold; it can be boiled in aqua regia for over ten hours without deterioration. Due to its superior chemical stability, F4 is an ideal corrosion-resistant material.

Excellent electrical insulation properties: Ordinary plastics are poor conductors of electricity, with very high surface and volume resistivity, ranging from 10⁹ to 10¹⁸ ohms. They also have high breakdown voltage and very low dielectric loss tangent. Therefore, plastics are widely used in the electronics and machinery industries.
